Creating Belonging

Through Communal Dining

New York City

Just Dinner

Just Dinner is our core format.

It is a communal dining experience built around a simple structure: a shared table, a set time, and a group of people who agree to participate. Each dinner is guided to help conversation move beyond the surface, without feeling forced or overly structured.

At its core, Just Dinner is a system for hosting. We design the structure, flow, and environment so that anyone at the table can participate, contribute, and feel at ease welcoming others. Over time, guests begin to take on a more active role. What starts as attendance becomes participation, and eventually, hosting.

As this repeats, something more stable begins to form. Tables grow into relationships, and relationships into communities.

Just Teams

Just Teams brings our communal dining format into startups, companies, and organizations.

We design shared meal experiences for teams, using the same principles developed through our public dinners. These gatherings are adapted for internal settings such as team-building sessions, off-sites, onboarding weeks, and community events.

Each experience is tailored to the group. We consider team size, context, and the kind of interaction that would be most useful for the people in the room. The structure is designed to support participation and make it easier for people to engage with one another in a natural way.

We work closely with organizations as a creative partner throughout the process, shaping the experience together rather than delivering a fixed format.

Just Friends

Just Friends is our collaboration format.

It allows people within and around the Studio Bumi community to host their own food-centered gatherings, using our structure and support. These events often take place in public or partner spaces, and each one reflects the perspective of the host.

The role of the studio is to provide a framework that keeps the experience grounded, while allowing enough flexibility for different ideas to take shape.

Just Hang

Just Hang focuses on continuity within the community.

These are lower-structure gatherings designed to keep people connected between larger events. They are often host-led and open-ended, with space for people to bring ideas, test formats, or simply spend time together.

Not every gathering is centered around a full meal, but the same principles apply. Participation is encouraged, and the environment is designed to be easy to step into.
